"The one who says a thing is impossible should not interrupt the person finishing it."
This family quote epitomizes Jeremy Kalin's approach to being an "attorney and counselor-at-law." Jeremy thrives as a strategic advisor, connecting the big picture with critical legal details required to make great ideas become reality.
"I consistently find Jeremy to be an individual of the highest character and passionate about serving others. He is incredibly bright and quick to consider alternatives necessary to drive solutions."
Greg Heinemann, Co-Founder Adrenaline Enterprises
Jeremy is able to connect with the real-world challenges of entrepreneurs, project developers, public officials and non-profit leaders. Clients really enjoy working with Jeremy because of his own diverse and deep experience. He's been a professional studio potter, an entrepreneur, a legislator and a lawyer - gaining his law degree 9 years ago - while serving as a State Representative and simultaneously leading a national, bipartisan network of clean energy legislative leaders for the White House.
"One of Jeremy strengths has been matching new markets areas with financing opportunities. He has proven himself to be a strong leader to navigate the internal politics of complicated partnerships, going step-by-step with a persistent eye on the larger goal: to bring Credit Union capital to new markets for clean energy."
Mara Humphrey, VP of Government Affairs and Member Services, Minnesota Credit Union Network
Jeremy believes that making smart choices upfront help achieve the almost-impossible later on. For an existing non-profit organization, it can be launching a revenue-generating social enterprise aligned with the core mission; for a solar developer, the bodacious goal may be unlocking a major new marketing through innovative solar ownership and financing structures. His success speaks for itself: Jeremy's been directly involved in more than $283 Million in groundbreaking clean energy projects across the United States and helped build at least four new billion-dollar financing instruments for solar and energy efficiency projects.
"I have spent my career working with some of the country's greatest leaders. I can say that Jeremy has an incredibly rare mix of skills that allow him to work in a team- oriented environment, connect with the people he is serving and working for and ultimately delivering results."
Nick Rathod, Deputy Director of White House Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Assistant to President Barack Obama
He continues to work with state lawmakers around the country as Senior Advisor to the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators. Jeremy, his wife Hope and their 7-year-old twins Jonah and Leah live in South Minneapolis, close enough to walk to their synagogue, Shir Tikvah. He feeds his mental health by gardening, competing in triathlons and still making functional ceramics.
"Jeremy is an innovator, a “do-er” and a listener. He sees the big picture, as well as the details. During my time working with Jeremy he has been thoughtful, deeply engaged, and respectful of the needs of our City and residents. Jeremy’s ability to evaluate and develop different financing structures has been invaluable to me, and to the Baltimore Shines initiative. His knowledge of financing, and connections to finance and economic development professionals across the country have helped us tremendously. He has used his experience as a legislator to help us navigate the passage of a bill dedicated to funding of the Baltimore Shines guarantee fund – which with a Republican Governor, and Democratic Legislature can be tricky. Jeremy worked through this with ease and was able to strategize with us on the best approaches to ensure passage."
Alice Kennedy, Deputy Commissioner, Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development
